Shane Victorino is having another great year for our beloved Phillies. He is batting over .300 this season, helping the team achieve the best record in baseball with a little over a month left until the start of the playoffs. Still, this World Series champion not only gives to our hometown team - he gives back to our community as well. In 2010, Shane created a foundation for children and earned the Phillies Community Service Award. He was awarded the Humanitarian of the Year in 2011 by the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association to honor his commitment to charity.
The Shane Victorino Foundation, an American Executive Centers' client, aims to help underprivileged youth in Philadelphia and the center-fielder's native Hawaii. Highlights of the foundation's work include:
- Giving nearly $1 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia to renovate their 105-year-old building
- Sponsoring the Flyin' Hawaiian All-Stars program, which gives free Phillies tickets to children's groups including Children from PAL (Police Athletic League), Boy Scouts of America, and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
- Supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Maui and funding the renovation of a public park in Waipo, Hawaii
Over the next few months, the foundation will hold two events: The second annual Shane Victorino Foundation All-Star Celebrity Fashion Show this Thursday, August 25, and a Celebrity Dinner and Golf Classic on November 19 in Maui.
At a time when our city is facing increasing amounts of youth violence, it is important that local businesses, groups, and individuals contribute to organizations like the Shane Victorino Foundation in any way that they can. No donation or amount of volunteer work is too small.
We at American Executive Centers are proud to support the Shane Victorino Foundation and our goal is to team up with our friends and colleagues throughout the area to contribute to the cause. Please join us in cheering the Phillies on to victory and applauding the efforts of the Shane Victorino Foundation.
